Description

Environmental Law for Non-Lawyers: Positioning | Applying | Securing Compliance

Understand how environmental rules are built so you can tell what genuinely applies to your own activity

  • 3 days — 21 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

Technical professionals receive environmental requirements without knowing which one takes precedence | what is a binding obligation and what is only a recommendation. They either over-apply out of caution or overlook a genuine obligation and discover the gap during an inspection or when a client asks the question.

Three days to acquire usable legal bearings without being a lawyer: how environmental texts are organised | the main regimes applicable to operating activities | the liabilities involved and a practical regulatory monitoring method. The programme provides general reading keys and does not cover any single procedure in detail.

Learning objectives

  • Position an environmental requirement within the hierarchy of applicable rules
  • Identify the main regimes likely to apply to a given activity
  • Distinguish between duty of means duty of result and good practice
  • Recognise the liabilities borne by the company and by its senior officers
  • Organise regulatory monitoring that is proportionate and traceable

What makes this programme different

Every legal notion is immediately linked to a concrete operating situation
Participants learn to read a text and extract what is actually enforceable against them
A monitoring template is built and tested on the participants' own activities
