Description
FX and Interest Rate Risk: Measure, Hedge and Manage
Identify what the company is genuinely exposed to on its currencies and its financing before hedging
- 4 days — 28 h
- In-person or virtual
- All levels
- Up to 6 participants
A contract signed in foreign currency, a floating-rate loan, collections deferred by several months: corporate exposure often builds up without any explicit decision. Treasury discovers the gap at settlement date and the hedges in place owe more to reaction than to a deliberate policy.
These two days bring together varied profiles around a common method. Participants identify and measure currency and interest rate positions, compare hedging instruments together with their costs and constraints, then formalise a policy supported by decision rules and regular monitoring.
Learning objectives
- Identify the currency and interest rate exposures generated by business activity
- Measure a position and its impact on earnings
- Compare the main hedging instruments and their constraints
- Formulate a hedging policy and its decision rules
- Organise the monitoring of transactions through to settlement
