Python: Automating Repetitive Tasks and Handling Business Data

Write simple scripts that take over the file processing work currently done by hand

Every week, the same steps: open a dozen exports, rename the columns, merge the files and produce the same summary table. The spreadsheet reaches its limits as soon as volumes grow or the source changes format. Manual handling introduces errors that are difficult to trace.

This one-day programme is designed for people who have already worked with Python and want to turn it into a practical working tool. Participants learn to read and write data files, process tables with the pandas library, loop through folders, handle errors and structure a reusable script rather than throwaway code.

Moving beyond code written on the fly

Replacing spreadsheet manipulation

  • Loading CSV and spreadsheet files into a data table
  • Selecting, filtering and creating calculated columns
  • Grouping, aggregating and joining several sources
  • Cleaning missing values and inconsistent data types
  • Exporting the result to a usable file

3Automating and Making Processes Reliable

Running the process without supervision

  • Scanning folders and batch processing of files
  • Working with paths, file names and dates
  • Exception handling and recovery after an error
  • Logging execution and producing control messages
  • Parameterising the script and scheduling execution

Before the programme
Online positioning questionnaire. Your development objectives are shared with the trainer, who tailors the practical case studies to your context.
Teaching methods
Theoretical input, workshops and practical case studies. Digital course materials and method sheets provided.
Assessment
Multiple-choice tests and role-play exercises. Assessment of learning at the start and end of the programme, with immediate and 60-day follow-up evaluations.
After the programme
One year of access to the e-learning platform. Self-assessment of the skills acquired and a 30-day follow-up session with your trainer.
