Description
Emotional Intelligence: Recognising, Regulating and Channelling Emotions
Treating your team's emotional signals as management information rather than an inconvenience
- 2 days — 14 h
- In-person or virtual
- Intermediate
- Up to 6 participants
Emotions circulate within a team whether the manager wants them to or not. Those who ignore them miss useful information about what is holding people back. Those who are swept up by them make decisions in a moment of irritation and then spend time repairing what they said.
These two days focus on identifying and regulating emotions in management situations. Participants learn to recognise their own reactions, then to acknowledge those of their team members and to conduct conversations charged with tension. The programme complements work on leadership by concentrating on this specific dimension.
Learning objectives
- Recognise your own emotional reactions in management situations
- Regulate a reaction before deciding or responding
- Acknowledge a team member's emotion without minimising or amplifying it
- Conduct a tense conversation while keeping the discussion on track
- Read the emotional climate of a team and respond to it
