Description

Digital Accessibility: Auditing, Fixing and Making Content Usable

Identify what blocks users with disabilities and correct your online content

  • 1 day — 7 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

A website can look elegant and still remain unusable for part of its audience: images without descriptions, insufficient colour contrast, forms that cannot be completed with a keyboard, documents that screen readers cannot interpret. Teams often discover these barriers late, once the project has gone live, and corrections then cost far more.

One day to understand how people with disabilities actually use digital services, test your own pages and fix the most common defects. Each participant leaves with a record of the issues found on their own site and a list of corrections ranked by priority.

Learning objectives

  • Describe the main disability situations and the assistive technologies used
  • Navigate a page with a keyboard and a screen reader to detect barriers
  • Check colour contrast, text alternatives and heading structure
  • Write accessible web content and office documents
  • Express accessibility requirements in a project brief
  • Prioritise corrections according to the actual difficulty created

What makes this programme different

Tests are run first with the keyboard, then with a screen reader, on participants' own pages
Corrections also cover the office documents published online
Everyone leaves with a record of issues ranked by priority for treatment
