Description

Training Delivery Level 2: Practising, Regulating and Managing the Group

Intensive delivery practice to manage group dynamics and defuse tension in the training room

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Intermediate
  • Up to 6 participants

An experienced trainer knows the content and the running order. What creates difficulty comes from the group: the participant who challenges you, the one who monopolises the discussion, the passive sub-group after lunch, or a room sent on a programme it never asked for. Delivery techniques alone are no longer enough.

Two days of intensive practice focused entirely on the relationship with the group. Participants take turns delivering in front of prepared situations, then analyse what actually happened. This Level 2 programme builds on Level 1 delivery skills by shifting the effort towards communication and group regulation rather than design.

Learning objectives

  • Analyse the dynamics of a group in a training session
  • Regulate behaviours that hinder progress
  • Adapt delivery to a mixed-ability or mandated group
  • Receive and address objections on content or on the framework
  • Re-engage a passive or tired group
  • Debrief an exercise without judging individuals

What makes this programme different

Every participant delivers in front of difficult situations role-played by the group
Sequences are filmed and then analysed step by step
Real situations are collected from participants before the session

Programme

1Reading group dynamics

Understanding what is happening beyond the content

  • Identify the roles that emerge within a group
  • Distinguish resistance to content from resistance to the framework
  • Recognise how the commissioning of the programme affects motivation
  • Adjust your positioning as a trainer

2Regulating tense situations

Intervening early and without a power struggle

  • Handle the participant who challenges the content
  • Channel the participant who monopolises the discussion
  • Reset boundaries without embarrassing anyone in front of the group
  • Regain control after an incident

3Communicating with the group

Adjusting how you speak and how you listen

  • Ask questions that move the work forward
  • Reformulate to secure understanding
  • Work with silence and pace
  • Manage exchanges between participants

4Mixed-ability groups and debriefing

Moving each person forward without losing the others

  • Manage differences in level within the room
  • Re-engage a passive group at the end of the day
  • Conduct the debriefing of an exercise
  • Build your personal development plan as a trainer
