Description

Responsible AI: Measuring Impacts, Questioning Uses and Making Informed Choices

Understand the environmental and social impacts of AI in order to choose your use cases with full awareness

  • 1 day — 7 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

AI is being adopted across organisations faster than the thinking about its effects. Productivity gains are discussed without looking at the resources consumed by infrastructure, the conditions under which training data is produced, or the biases reproduced by the models.

This one-day awareness programme is designed for anyone concerned by the subject, with no technical expertise required. It explains what a model is and what it costs to run, sets out the documented environmental, social and ethical impacts, then offers a method for questioning an AI project before launching it.

Learning objectives

  • Explain in plain language how an AI model works
  • Identify the environmental impacts of AI use
  • Recognise the social effects and biases produced by automated systems
  • Question the real usefulness of an AI project before it is launched
  • Define selection criteria for responsible use

What makes this programme different

Impacts are addressed without alarmism or promotional messaging
A project questioning framework is built during the day
Trade-offs are worked through on projects brought by participants
