Description
Knowledge Management: Identifying, Capturing and Sharing Critical Know-How
Two days to organise knowledge transfer before departures create operational gaps
- 2 days — 14 h
- In-person or virtual
- Intermediate
- Up to 6 participants
A significant share of an organisation's know-how is written down nowhere. It sits with a handful of people who know how to handle the rare incident or keep an ageing installation running. When they leave, the organisation rediscovers problems it had already solved.
These 14 hours offer a pragmatic approach focused on genuinely critical knowledge. Participants learn to identify it, conduct transfer interviews, select the right form of capture and organise sharing over time. The emphasis is on use rather than on producing documentation.
Learning objectives
- Frame a knowledge management initiative on a limited scope
- Identify critical knowledge using rarity and risk criteria
- Conduct a transfer interview with a holder of specialist know-how
- Select the form of capture suited to each type of knowledge
- Organise knowledge sharing within day-to-day working practices
- Track the actual use of the knowledge captured
