Description

Warehouse and Storage Facility Management: Organise, Secure and Optimise

Structuring warehouse flows to improve stock accuracy and speed up order picking

  • 3 days — 21 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

In a poorly organised storage facility, pickers spend their time searching for references, locations become saturated close to the docks and recorded stock drifts away from actual stock. Picking errors turn into customer complaints and the annual stock count becomes a catch-up exercise rather than a genuine control.

This three-day programme works through the warehouse flow by flow, from goods receipt to dispatch. Participants learn how to lay out zones according to item rotation, how to secure stock quantities and how to monitor site performance using indicators that are simple to maintain.

Learning objectives

  • Lay out warehouse zones according to the rotation and volume of references
  • Organise goods receipt and put-away operations
  • Select a picking method suited to order profiles
  • Secure stock quantities through cycle counting
  • Monitor storage facility performance using activity indicators
  • Embed safety rules into the daily organisation of the site

What makes this programme different

A warehouse layout plan is reworked in session based on outbound movement profiles
A facility audit grid is built and then applied to each participant's own situation
Picking methods are compared using one and the same order book
