Description
Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing: Identify, Verify, Report
Applying AML/CFT obligations day to day without turning every client file into an investigation
- 0.43 days — 3 h
- In-person or virtual
- Foundation
- Up to 6 participants
Anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing obligations apply to every employee in contact with clients. In practice, due diligence is often reduced to a few boxes ticked at onboarding, after which nothing is reviewed again. Unusual transactions then go unnoticed and incomplete files surface during control reviews.
This short format covers the obligations in the order in which they arise for the employee. It sets out what must be verified at onboarding, what triggers enhanced due diligence and how to escalate a suspicion through the internal reporting channel.
Learning objectives
- Identify transactions and client profiles that expose the institution to money laundering risk
- Carry out client identification and know-your-customer due diligence
- Adjust the level of due diligence to the risk profile of the client and the transaction
- Detect an unusual transaction in the light of what is known about the client
- Document and escalate a suspicion through the internal reporting channel
