Description

First Steps in Office Tools: Managing Your Workstation, Writing and Calculating

Master the essential actions for using a computer, managing files, writing documents and building spreadsheets

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

Simple tasks can remain genuine obstacles: locating a file saved the day before, attaching a document to an email, formatting a letter or entering data into a table. The workstation becomes a source of apprehension and every request has to go through a colleague. Yet professional autonomy depends directly on these skills.

These 14 in-person hours cover the fundamentals in a logical order. Participants learn to find their way around their workstation, organise their folders, write and format a document, then build a table with calculations. Each action is repeated several times until it can be performed without hesitation and without outside help.

Learning objectives

  • Identify the elements of the workstation and manage open windows
  • Organise folders and retrieve a saved file
  • Write and format a text document
  • Build a table and perform simple calculations in it
  • Send an email with an attachment
  • Print a document after checking the print preview

What makes this programme different

Actions are repeated until they can be performed without any help from the trainer
An illustrated reference sheet of operations is completed by the participant throughout the exercises
