Description

Professional Podcasting: Designing the Format, Recording and Publishing Episodes

Launch a podcast you can sustain, with clean sound and a format listeners come back to

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

Podcasting appeals to organisations that want to talk about their work in a different way. The first episodes are often recorded without a defined format, with average sound quality and improvised editing. The series then stops after a few numbers, for lack of organisation and for lack of an audience.

This 14-hour programme covers the full chain, from concept to publication. Participants define their format, prepare an interview, record a sequence, edit it and then organise distribution. All exercises are run with lightweight equipment that a small team can realistically afford and operate.

Learning objectives

  • Define the format, duration and editorial line of a podcast
  • Prepare an interview and lead the conversation on microphone
  • Record usable audio with lightweight equipment
  • Edit an episode and correct the main sound defects
  • Publish an episode on listening platforms and monitor audience figures

What makes this programme different

A pilot episode recorded and edited during the two days
Sound recordings made in the training room and then outside it with portable equipment
An interview outline and a production calendar taken away by each participant
