Description

Goal-Setting Strategy: Define a Target, Break It Down and Track Progress

Three hours to turn a vague intention into a clearly stated goal that is genuinely tracked

  • 0.43 days — 3 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

Projects often start with a broad intention. Improve customer satisfaction. Become more efficient. Without precise wording, everyone interprets it differently. The first weeks are spent in discussion and no one can say whether progress is being made. At review time, the absence of any criterion makes evaluation impossible.

This 3-hour virtual module provides a method for wording and tracking goals. Participants work on a goal taken from their own activity. They reword it, then define a success indicator before breaking it down into dated steps and anticipating obstacles. They leave with a goal sheet ready to be shared.

Learning objectives

  • Reword a broad intention as an observable goal
  • Define an indicator that shows when the goal has been reached
  • Break a goal down into dated steps with named owners
  • Anticipate foreseeable obstacles and plan a response for each
  • Complete a goal sheet that can be shared with the team

What makes this programme different

A goal drawn from the participant's own activity worked through from start to finish
A completed goal sheet ready for use the next day
