Description

Compliance Programme: Structuring the Framework, Rolling It Out and Measuring Its Effectiveness

Build a group-wide compliance programme that holds up over time and amounts to more than a stack of procedures

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Intermediate
  • Up to 6 participants

Many organisations accumulate frameworks subject by subject: a code of conduct here, a risk map there, occasional awareness sessions and procedures that nobody reads again. The result is a costly set-up, poorly owned by operational teams, and difficult to defend when you have to demonstrate that the framework genuinely works.

Two days to design a coherent compliance programme, from the initial diagnostic through to indicator-based steering, including roll-out across subsidiaries and third parties. This session addresses the method for building a cross-functional programme applicable in any sector, rather than the compliance requirements of one specific regulated activity.

Learning objectives

  • Assess the existing framework and identify areas that remain uncovered
  • Define the governance and roles within the programme
  • Build the documentary foundation and make it usable by operational teams
  • Roll out the programme across subsidiaries and third parties
  • Measure the effectiveness of the framework through indicators and corrective actions

What makes this programme different

The diagnostic is carried out on each participant's actual framework
A twelve-month roll-out roadmap is built during the session
Reporting channels are tested on simulated reports handled end to end

Programme

1Diagnostic and programme scope

Starting from what exists rather than from a blank page

  • Map the frameworks already in place and their owners
  • Identify overlaps and uncovered areas
  • Pinpoint the most exposed activities and locations
  • Define the programme's priorities

2Governance and documentary foundation

Rules that can actually be applied

  • Allocate roles between executive management, business lines and compliance
  • Draft a clear and workable code of conduct
  • Structure procedures by process rather than by topic
  • Organise the updating of the documentary set

3Roll-out and third-party control

Keeping the programme alive in the field

  • Build a targeted training and awareness approach
  • Adapt the programme to subsidiaries and local operations
  • Assess third parties and include appropriate contractual clauses
  • Organise the collection and handling of reports

4Steering and effectiveness

Proving that the framework works

  • Define monitoring and effectiveness indicators
  • Organise second-line controls
  • Track action plans and incidents
  • Report to governance bodies
