Description

Year-End Closing Entries: Depreciation, Provisions and Accruals

Post the closing entries that give the balance sheet a true and fair view at year end

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

Accounts closed without proper year-end work present a distorted picture. Costs relating to the following period remain recorded, doubtful receivables sit at their nominal value and fixed assets are not depreciated correctly. The reviewing accountant then returns a long list of corrections at the very last moment.

A short format dedicated solely to closing operations. You calculate and record depreciation. You assess impairment losses and provisions. You handle inventory and cut-off adjustments, right through from the pre-closing trial balance to the annual financial statements.

Learning objectives

  • Calculate and record depreciation of fixed assets
  • Assess impairment of receivables and inventory
  • Recognise and reverse a provision for risks
  • Record prepaid expenses and deferred income
  • Move from the pre-closing trial balance to the annual financial statements

What makes this programme different

A complete closing file is worked through, from provisional trial balance to annual financial statements
Every entry is supported by a year-end working paper to be produced
A review file template is provided and used throughout the session
