Description

IFRS Consolidation: Defining the Scope, Adjusting and Producing Group Accounts

Move from individual reporting packages to consolidated accounts without losing the audit trail on adjustments

  • 3 days — 21 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Intermediate
  • Up to 6 participants

The consolidation process often feels like a black box: the scope changes during the year, subsidiaries submit inconsistent reporting packages and adjustment entries pile up without documentation. When auditors start asking questions, justifying a consolidated line item turns into an archaeology exercise.

Three days to rebuild the complete chain under IFRS. The programme follows the real sequence of work: determining the scope and consolidation methods, alignment adjustments, elimination of intragroup transactions and then preparation of the consolidated statements. Each stage is worked through on a single case-study group that includes a foreign subsidiary.

Learning objectives

  • Determine the consolidation scope and the method applicable to each entity
  • Perform alignment adjustments in accordance with IFRS
  • Eliminate reciprocal transactions and intragroup profits
  • Handle the translation of foreign subsidiary accounts
  • Calculate and monitor goodwill over time
  • Produce the consolidated statements and related notes

What makes this programme different

A case-study group with a foreign subsidiary and non-controlling interests is consolidated from start to finish
Consolidation entries are recorded in a closing workbook provided to participants
The most debated adjustments are tracked through to the following year's entries
