Description

Business Writing and AI: Draft, Rephrase and Proofread Faster

Two hours to turn generative AI into genuine support for your emails, meeting notes and summary reports

  • 0.29 days — 2 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

Drafting a sensitive email, writing up meeting notes or condensing a long document takes time and is often left until the end of the day. Generative AI promises to speed this work up, yet the output frequently sounds artificial and requires a full rewrite that cancels out the expected gain.

This two-hour virtual workshop shows you how to bring an AI assistant into your everyday writing without losing your own voice. You work on your own documents. You learn to generate a first draft, to rephrase it at the right register and to review critically what the tool proposes before anything is sent.

Learning objectives

  • Produce a first draft of an email or note from raw inputs
  • Rephrase a text to adjust tone and length to the recipient
  • Summarise a long document while retaining any binding commitments
  • Review a generated text critically before circulating it

What makes this programme different

Workshop run on your own real documents brought to the session
Comparison of the versions produced by participants on the same case
A pre-circulation review checklist built collectively

Programme

1Generating a first draft

Moving past the blank page

  • Inputs required to obtain an email that can be used almost as is
  • Drafting from raw notes or from earlier correspondence
  • Handling sensitive messages or messages carrying bad news
  • Safeguards on confidential data shared with the tool

2Rephrasing and adjusting

The same substance at the right register

  • Turning a technical text into one a non-specialist can follow
  • Shortening a text without losing information that carries a commitment
  • Adjusting tone according to the relationship with the recipient
  • Keeping a style consistent with your usual writing

3Reviewing before circulating

What the tool does not check

  • Spotting fabricated statements and unsourced figures
  • Verifying deadline and accountability commitments contained in the text
  • Checking courtesy formulas and the company's required disclaimers and footers
  • Final decision to circulate and the writer's own responsibility

Who is it for
