Description
Online Misinformation: Spotting, Verifying and Cross-Checking Before You Share
Build practical verification reflexes so that questionable information is never passed on in a professional setting
- 0.43 days — 3 h
- In-person or virtual
- Foundation
- Up to 6 participants
A screenshot, a striking figure, a video stripped of its context: information travels fast through workplace messaging groups and social platforms. Sharing false information puts the credibility of the sender at stake, and sometimes that of the whole organisation.
Three hours to understand what makes false information so convincing and to acquire fast verification reflexes. The session alternates between the analysis of real-world cases and live cross-checking exercises.
Learning objectives
- Recognise the signals that should trigger a verification check
- Trace information or an image back to its original source
- Cross-check a claim against independent sources
- Apply a clear course of action when questionable information has already been circulated
