Description

Speaking with Impact: Voice, Presence and Audience Command

Developing presence and voice so that strong content is never undermined by delivery

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Intermediate
  • Up to 6 participants

Solid content can go unnoticed. A voice that fades at the end of sentences, a pace accelerated by nerves, distracting gestures, eyes fixed on notes: delivery ends up taking centre stage and the audience remembers the discomfort rather than the message.

Two days devoted to the vocal and physical dimensions of speaking in public. Breathing, grounding, voice projection, silences, movement and stress regulation are addressed through short repeated exercises, with filmed sessions at the beginning and end of the programme to measure progress.

Learning objectives

  • Use breathing to steady the voice and control speaking pace
  • Project the voice and vary intonation according to the room configuration
  • Occupy the space and direct eye contact to hold a group's attention
  • Use silence and rhythm as supports for the message
  • Regulate nerves before and during a presentation

What makes this programme different

Two filmed sessions at the start and end of the programme to evidence progress
