Description
Renewable Energy Projects: Framing, Contracting and Risk Management
Understand the legal framework of a renewable energy project before committing to land rights and feasibility studies
- 2 days — 14 h
- In-person or virtual
- Foundation
- Up to 6 participants
A solar or wind project takes several years to build. Land rights are committed early, approvals come late, and the business model depends on support and procurement mechanisms that project teams often understand only partially. Power sale clauses are signed without their impact on financing being anticipated.
Two days, in-person or virtual, to set out the legal framework of these projects. You distinguish the regimes applicable to each technology and each location. You identify the approvals required and the order in which they must be obtained. You spot the sensitive provisions of land agreements and power purchase agreements, as well as the challenges that opponents and third parties may raise.
Learning objectives
- Position the main renewable energy technologies and the legal framework specific to each
- Identify the approvals required for a project and the sequence in which they are obtained
- Analyse the sensitive clauses of a project land agreement
- Understand the logic of support and procurement mechanisms and their effect on the financing structure
- Anticipate challenges and organise the legal protection of the project
