Description

AI-Assisted Tutorials: Scripting, Producing and Validating

Seven hours to produce a genuinely useful tutorial without handing the machine what belongs to the instructional designer

  • 1 day — 7 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Intermediate
  • Up to 6 participants

Requests for short tutorials keep piling up on the trainer's desk. Each production calls for a script, screen captures, a voice-over and editing, only to deliver an asset that is viewed for a few weeks and then out of date. Generative tools promise speed but often return flat, sometimes inaccurate content with no connection to the task the user actually has to perform.

This 7-hour in-person session follows the full production chain. Participants frame the need from a real task, write a sequenced storyboard, have a generative tool produce the script, voice and visuals, then review the output before publication. Everyone leaves with a finished tutorial.

Learning objectives

  • Frame the need for a tutorial based on a real task to be performed
  • Write a storyboard broken into sequences with clear learning intentions
  • Formulate precise instructions to obtain a usable script
  • Check the accuracy and usage rights attached to generated content
  • Publish a tutorial and gather feedback from its users

What makes this programme different

A complete tutorial produced from storyboard to publication within the day
A library of prompt templates built and tested by the group
A verification checklist for generated content before release

Programme

1Framing and Storyboarding

Before opening any tool

  • Defining the task to be performed and the target audience
  • Breaking content into short sequences and sequencing the actions
  • Choosing between screen capture, filmed demonstration and animation
  • Writing the script and the on-screen instructions

2Assisted Production

Asking well to get results

  • Structure of a prompt addressed to a generative tool
  • Generating and then reworking an instructional script
  • Producing the voice-over, the visuals and the subtitles
  • Visual and audio consistency across sequences

3Verification, Publication and Use

What the machine does not guarantee

  • Technical review and identification of inaccurate statements
  • Usage rights for images, voices and extracts
  • Accessibility of the tutorial and clarity of instructions
  • Release, tracking of views and updating
