Description
Family Business Succession: Structuring, Securing and Monitoring Commitments
One day to build a family business transfer that withstands corporate operations and the years that follow
- 1 day — 7 h
- In-person or virtual
- Expert
- Up to 6 participants
Succession structures are signed, then forgotten. A few years later, a partial disposal, a group restructuring or a change in management responsibilities weakens the whole arrangement, and the reporting obligations attached to it were never met. The challenge arises at the worst possible moment, once the transfer has been completed and the costs already settled.
This 7-hour programme is designed for experienced succession practitioners. It reviews the conditions to be met at company and shareholding level, builds the interaction between shareholder undertakings, gifts, holding structures and split ownership, then organises the year-by-year monitoring of commitments and the early identification of high-risk events.
Learning objectives
- Verify the eligibility of the company and of the shareholding for a favourable succession regime
- Sequence collective and individual undertakings within the transfer timetable
- Combine the arrangement with a gift, a holding company or a split-ownership structure
- Identify the events likely to jeopardise the benefit obtained
- Organise the monitoring of reporting obligations and the evidence to be retained
- Alert the business owner to the weak points of the structure
