Description

Project Management Assistant: Tools for Tracking, Consolidating and Ensuring Reliable Data

Two days to hold the project support role with confidence and deliver reliable tracking data

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

The project support function is often reduced to collecting spreadsheets: everyone fills in their own file, data arrives late and the consolidated figures no longer match what is happening on the ground. The assistant then spends more time chasing contributors than producing analysis.

These fourteen hours set out what the role really involves: maintaining project baselines, running the reporting cycle, consolidating data across several projects and preparing governance meetings. The aim is to make data usable by senior management without adding to the workload of delivery teams.

Learning objectives

  • Keep schedule and workload baselines up to date across a portfolio
  • Organise the cycle for collecting and consolidating progress data
  • Check the consistency of data submitted by teams
  • Produce a dashboard that senior management can read at a glance
  • Prepare and document governance meetings

What makes this programme different

The work is based on inconsistent data that has to be corrected rather than on ideal cases
A full reporting cycle is simulated from the launch of data collection to the governance meeting
The templates produced are adapted to the size of each participant's portfolio
