Description
Hybrid Management: Organising Work, Leading Remotely and Keeping the Team Connected
Making a team work when its members are never all on site on the same day
- 1.5 days — 10.5 h
- In-person or virtual
- All levels
- Up to 6 participants
Hybrid working has shifted the manager's problems: information that flows poorly between those on site and those working remotely, meetings where half the group disengages, team members who are rarely seen and others who are called upon too often. Control through physical presence no longer works and nothing has replaced it.
One and a half days to rebuild an explicit operating framework: what is done on site and what is handled remotely, the rituals that are genuinely useful, availability rules and a way of tracking work based on results. Participants leave with the hybrid charter of their own team.
Learning objectives
- Define what requires on-site presence and what can be handled remotely
- Establish rules for availability and information flow
- Run a mixed meeting while maintaining fairness between on-site and remote participants
- Track activity on results rather than on presence
What makes this programme different
Programme
1Setting the Hybrid Framework
What must be decided before organising anything
- Identify the activities that genuinely require presence
- Set common office days and define what happens on them
- Clarify the availability windows expected of each person
- Write simple rules the team can be held to
2Keeping Information Flowing
Avoiding a two-speed team
- Choose the channel according to urgency and traceability
- Make decisions accessible to those who were absent
- Restrict meetings to the subjects that require them
- Organise shared documentation
3Running Mixed Meetings
Holding the group together when it is split in two
- Prepare and frame the agenda
- Give the floor to remote participants first
- Manage cameras and periods of silence
- Close on decisions recorded in writing
4Tracking Work and Maintaining Connection
Steering without monitoring
- Define deliverables and review points
- Hold regular one-to-one meetings remotely
- Spot signals of disengagement or overload
- Sustain cohesion between periods on site
Who is it for
Front-line managers responsible for a team and project managers leading team members split between the office and remote working.
