Description

Hybrid Management: Leading a Team Across Office and Remote Settings

Keeping a team united and workloads visible when people are no longer in the same place

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Intermediate
  • Up to 6 participants

Hybrid working has shifted the manager's points of reference: fewer informal signals, far more written communication, and a sense of fairness that has to be deliberately built between those in the office and those who are not.

One and a half days to organise the team's working rhythm, adapt managerial routines and spot from a distance the situations that are starting to deteriorate.

Learning objectives

  • Organise the team's on-site rhythm and agreed ground rules
  • Adapt managerial routines to a hybrid format
  • Track activity without slipping into constant monitoring
  • Detect isolation, overload and disengagement from a distance
  • Maintain cohesion and fairness between on-site and remote team members

What makes this programme different

A hybrid team charter drafted during the programme
Practical markers for reading warning signals remotely
Short format that transfers directly to the workplace

Programme

1Setting the framework for a hybrid team

What can no longer be guessed must be written down

  • On-site rhythm: who decides, and on what criteria
  • Rules on availability, response times and meetings
  • Equal treatment between on-site and remote team members
  • Building a team charter and keeping it alive

2Adapting your managerial routines

Less informal contact, more intent

  • Hybrid team meetings: format, duration and facilitation
  • Remote one-to-one reviews: frequency and content
  • Information flow and documenting decisions
  • Choosing the right channel: synchronous, asynchronous, written, spoken

3Monitoring and adjusting from a distance

Seeing without watching over

  • Managing by results and commitments rather than by presence
  • Warning signals: withdrawal, overload, always-on behaviour, silence
  • Conducting a difficult conversation over video call
  • Protecting working-hour boundaries and preventing always-on habits

Who is it for

Managers of partially or fully remote teams · managers working across several sites · leaders of teams that have recently moved to hybrid working.
