Description
Agile Mindset: Experiment, Adjust and Learn as a Team
Embedding more iterative ways of working in a team that does not build software
- 2 days — 14 h
- In-person or virtual
- Intermediate
- Up to 6 participants
Agile methods are often presented as a set of rituals to replicate. Transferred as they are into a business or support team, they generate additional meetings without changing how decisions are made or how errors are handled. The team concludes that agility does not apply to it.
These two days are designed for managers who want to make their team more responsive. The work focuses on breaking workstreams into short cycles, then on experimentation and feedback loops. This programme addresses how work is run, whereas the participative leadership pathway addresses the decision-making process.
Learning objectives
- Translate agile principles into practices suited to a non-IT team
- Break a workstream into short cycles with interim deliverables
- Put in place a regular feedback loop on completed work
- Run a retrospective that leads to adjustments actually applied
- Frame an experiment and decide what happens next
What makes this programme different

2Breaking Down Work and Setting Priorities
Working in short cycles

- Building and maintaining a prioritised work list
- Arbitrating requests that arrive mid-cycle
- Making progress visible to the whole team
3Running Feedback Loops
Rituals that are useful and properly sized

- Running a brief progress check focused on obstacles
- Gathering feedback from the recipients of the work produced
- Adjusting the content of the next cycle
4Learning from Experience
Retrospectives and the right to try
