Description

Google Tag Manager: Tag a Website, Ensure Data Reliability and Debug

Take back control of your website tagging and deliver performance data you can genuinely rely on

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Intermediate
  • Up to 6 participants

Without a tagging plan, website data quickly becomes unmanageable: tags added campaign after campaign, conversions counted twice, events named differently by each agency, and changes that require technical intervention every single time.

This 14-hour programme is designed for practitioners already familiar with web analytics. It covers container structure in Google Tag Manager, event tracking implementation, the data layer, debugging before publication and consent management. All hands-on work is carried out on a test website.

Learning objectives

  • Structure a container with durable naming conventions
  • Write a tagging plan aligned with measurement objectives
  • Configure tags, triggers and variables for key events
  • Debug a tagging setup before publication and correct duplicates
  • Manage consent and container versioning

What makes this programme different

All hands-on work is carried out on a test website that remains accessible after the programme
A complete tagging plan is written before any tag is created
Duplicate and mis-counted conversion cases are diagnosed live in session

  • Configure click, form and page view tracking
  • Make use of the data layer provided by the site
  • Track the steps of a conversion funnel
  • Send data to advertising platforms

4Debugging, Consent and Publication

Publish without breaking measurement

  • Use preview mode to verify every trigger
