Description

Evaluating a Training Programme: Designing, Collecting and Using Feedback

Move beyond the satisfaction survey to measure what participants are genuinely able to do

  • 0.14 days — 1 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • All levels
  • Up to 6 participants

Evaluation is often reduced to a form filled in at the end of the session. The answers measure the mood in the room rather than what has been learned, averages hide the sequences that were poorly understood, and nothing shows whether the participant applies anything at all back at work. Yet the sponsor expects evidence and the training records require documented proof.

This one-hour module distinguishes between the levels of evaluation. Participants link their criteria to the stated objectives, write questions that can actually be used, and decide on a change to a session plan based on real results.

Learning objectives

  • Distinguish between evaluating satisfaction, learning and transfer
  • Link evaluation criteria to the stated learning objectives
  • Write usable questions that are not leading
  • Choose between a quiz, a role-play exercise and an observation grid
  • Use the results to adjust a training sequence
  • Organise a deferred evaluation of transfer in the workplace

What makes this programme different

The questions written by participants are tested for leading wording
Analysis goes beyond the average to identify the sequences to rework
The evaluation evidence expected in training records is set out precisely
