Description
Artificial Intelligence and Learning Design: Tools for Designing, Guiding and Assessing
Use generative AI to design faster without weakening the learning relationship
- 1.71 days — 12 h
- In-person or virtual
- All levels
- Up to 6 participants
Trainers are given contradictory promises about generative AI: considerable time savings on one side, hollow content and passive learners on the other. In practice, the real difficulty lies elsewhere: knowing what the tool genuinely produces well, what must be reviewed line by line, and what remains the trainer's own work.
This virtual programme alternates between input sessions and hands-on production. Participants use the tools to draft learning scenarios, case studies and question sets, then correct them against a quality checklist. They also address the stance to adopt with learners who use these tools, the handling of personal data, and how to disclose what has been produced with assistance.
Learning objectives
- Identify the instructional design tasks where AI delivers a genuine gain
- Write precise instructions to obtain usable outputs
- Correct and enrich generated content using a quality checklist
- Design activities that incorporate learners' own use of the tools
- Manage assessment when submissions are AI-assisted
What makes this programme different
Programme
1What Generative AI Can Actually Do in Training
Sorting the promises
- How language models work in principle
- Types of output that are useful for design work
- Typical errors and content that is plausible but false
- Data shared with the tools and rules of caution
2Designing with the Tool
Speeding up production without losing intent
- Writing contextualised and iterative instructions
- Producing learning objectives, scenarios and sequences
- Generating case studies and role-play situations
- Adapting content to a given audience and duration
3Delivering Sessions and Putting Learners to Work
Placing the tool in the hands of the group
- Activities in which learners use the tool as raw material
- Group critical analysis of a generated output
- Personalising learning paths and providing remediation
- Usage rules announced at the start of a session
4Assessing and Setting Boundaries
Maintaining pedagogical standards
- Designing assessments that resist automatic generation
- Observable evidence of learning in real situations
- Transparency about AI use in course materials
- Protecting learner data and selecting tools accordingly
Who is it for
Trainers, instructional designers, learning and development managers and educators working with adult audiences.
Prerequisites
Experience in designing or delivering training activities.
