Description

Practising Quality Auditing: Preparing, Conducting and Reporting an Internal Audit

Three days to conduct internal audits that produce useful findings and actions that are genuinely followed through

  • 3 days — 21 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

Internal auditing is too often treated as a formality. The auditor checks that procedures exist without looking at how work is actually performed. Findings are worded so vaguely that no one feels accountable. Action plans address the symptom and the same non-conformity reappears at the next audit, while the audit programme contributes nothing to company performance.

These 21 hours provide complete practical training in quality auditing. Participants prepare their audit, build their interview guide, conduct discussions on site, qualify their findings and present them at the closing meeting. They practise gathering facts rather than opinions and monitoring the effectiveness of the actions agreed.

Learning objectives

  • Prepare an internal audit using available documents and data
  • Build an interview guide and define audit trails
  • Conduct interviews that produce verifiable facts
  • Qualify and write factual findings linked to a specific requirement
  • Present conclusions at the closing meeting
  • Track the handling of non-conformities through to effectiveness verification

What makes this programme different

Three audit interviews role-played and debriefed by the group on different cases
An audit report written during the session and corrected collectively
Practice in handling evasive or defensive auditees
