Description
Talent Management: Identifying Potential, Developing and Retaining
One day to identify the skills your business depends on and retain the people who hold them
- 1 day — 7 h
- In-person or virtual
- Foundation
- Up to 6 participants
An employee seen as a cornerstone of the business resigns and the organisation discovers that no alternative had ever been prepared. Nothing in the previous review conversations had suggested it was coming. Elsewhere, employees who could take on greater responsibility remain invisible because their line manager never puts their name forward.
This one-day programme offers a method designed for organisations that have no formal talent process in place. Participants learn how to define what talent means in their own context, how to run a talent review, how to prepare succession on business-critical roles and how to build development pathways. The discussion also covers what happens when a talent policy is poorly explained to teams.
Learning objectives
- Define the skills that are critical to your organisation's activity
- Identify the roles whose vacancy would disrupt operations
- Run a talent review with line managers against explicit criteria
- Build a development pathway tailored to an identified employee
- Prevent the side effects of poorly communicated talent identification
