Description
Artificial Intelligence and Payroll: Identifying Uses, Controlling Risks and Making Decisions
Two days to understand what these tools genuinely change within a payroll team and what they do not
- 2 days — 14 h
- In-person or virtual
- Foundation
- Up to 6 participants
Software vendors now advertise artificial intelligence features inside payroll systems, and payroll officers are left wondering what actually changes. Some are already testing a conversational assistant on pay slip queries without knowing where the data goes. The payroll manager has to make a call with no technical benchmark and no internal framework.
These 14 hours provide the reference points needed to decide. Participants distinguish rule-based automation from generative models, examine realistic payroll use cases such as anomaly checking or responding to employee queries, identify the points requiring vigilance on personal data, and then draft a usage rule their team can actually apply.
Learning objectives
- Distinguish rule-based automation from generative artificial intelligence models
- Identify the payroll tasks genuinely affected by these tools
- Assess the risk attached to processing payroll data through an external service
- Review assisted output before it is sent to an employee
- Draft an internal usage rule for the payroll team
What makes this programme different

- machine learning and text generation
- What a model produces and what it does not verify
- Features announced by payroll management software providers
- Useful vocabulary for holding a conversation with a vendor
2Examining payroll use cases
Checking | data entry and employee queries
- Anomaly detection on variable inputs and on pay slips
- Support in drafting answers to employee queries
- Extracting information from HR and payroll documents

- Accountability of the payroll officer for assisted output
- Records retained and information owed to employees
4Framing use within the team
Rules | review points and skills development
