Description

HR Information Systems: Defining Requirements, Selecting a Solution and Managing the Roll-Out

Seven hours to regain control of an HRIS project before the tool starts dictating how the department works

  • 1 day — 7 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

The HR department juggles a payroll application, a spreadsheet for absence tracking and a recruitment tool that do not talk to each other. Every report requires data to be keyed in again. When a redesign is launched, it is often driven by the IT department, and HR discovers the trade-offs once the decisions have already been made.

These 7 hours of training are designed to put HR back in control of the subject. Participants map their processes and data flows. They position the building blocks of an HRIS in relation to one another and draft the key elements of a requirements specification. The session closes on the roll-out roadmap and adoption by line managers.

Learning objectives

  • Map an organisation's HR processes and data flows
  • Position the functional building blocks of an HRIS and their exchange points
  • Formulate functional requirements that can be used in a specification document
  • Assess a solution against the department's needs rather than its feature list
  • Build a phased roll-out roadmap with its control points

What makes this programme different

An HR process map produced by each participant for their own scope
A functional requirements template completed during the session and ready to be finalised
A review of the common causes of roll-out failure based on real situations
