Description

No-Code Automation: Mapping Processes, Building and Stabilising Your Workflows

Replace repetitive tasks with no-code automations your team can maintain on its own

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Intermediate
  • Up to 6 participants

In support functions, a significant share of working time is lost re-entering data between applications, chasing approvals manually and maintaining duplicate tracking files. Requests submitted to the IT department sit in a queue, so teams build their own automations, then abandon them as soon as an error occurs or the person who built them moves to another role.

Two days to decide what genuinely deserves to be automated, model the workflow before building it, assemble a scenario across several applications and above all make it dependable: error handling, documentation and governance rules.

Learning objectives

  • Identify tasks suitable for automation and estimate the expected gain
  • Model the target workflow before building it
  • Assemble an automation scenario across several applications
  • Handle errors and exceptions within the workflow
  • Document an automation and hand over its maintenance
  • Define security and data handling rules

What makes this programme different

Each participant automates a real process from their own department
The scenarios built are tested with deliberately faulty data sets
A maintenance sheet is written for every automation produced

Programme

1Choosing What Deserves to Be Automated

Target the real gain

  • Estimate time consumed and the expected gain
  • Rule out unstable or infrequent processes
  • Decide between automation, an internal tool or development

2Modelling the Target Process

Draw before you connect

  • Formalise the trigger, the steps and the outputs

  • Pinpoint decision points and workflow branches
  • Define the business rules to be respected

3Building and Connecting Applications

Assemble a scenario that runs

  • Link applications through their connectors
  • Transform and reconcile data between steps
  • Manage scheduled triggers and event-based triggers
  • Test the scenario step by step
