Description
Credit Analysis: Reading the Accounts, Assessing Risk and Structuring the Facility
Build a credit analysis you can defend before the committee, starting from the client's accounts
- 1 day — 7 h
- In-person or virtual
- Intermediate
- Up to 6 participants
Business relationship managers are expected to form a rapid view on financing requests that are documented to very uneven standards. Reading the financial statements is not enough: working capital requirements, dependence on a handful of customers, the owner's own position or the movements on the account often say a great deal more. Many files are returned by the credit committee for insufficient analysis or poorly selected security.
This one-day programme sets out a complete method: restating the financial statements, diagnosing the risk, selecting the facility and drafting the note submitted to the committee.
Learning objectives
- Restate financial statements to obtain the balances that matter for credit analysis
- Assess the borrower's financial equilibrium and repayment capacity
- Identify signs of deterioration before they appear in the accounts
- Select the financing solution suited to the stated need and its cycle
- Draft a well-argued credit note together with appropriate security
