Description

OTC Derivatives: Applying the Rules and Securing Post-Trade Monitoring

Translating clearing, reporting and margin obligations into working middle-office procedures

  • 1 day — 7 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Expert
  • Up to 6 participants

With over-the-counter derivatives, the gap between the rulebook and the trading floor widens quickly. A mis-categorised transaction is not routed to clearing. An incorrect identifier causes the trade repository submission to be rejected. A disputed margin call stays open for days. The middle office absorbs this friction without always having a clear view of the obligation that creates it.

This one-day programme connects each regulatory obligation to the concrete processing it requires. Participants work on counterparty categorisation, the clearing chain, the content of reporting submissions and margin exchange. The level assumes confident hands-on practice with derivatives.

Learning objectives

  • Categorise counterparties and determine the obligations applicable to each
  • Route transactions between central clearing and bilateral processing
  • Organise the production of trade repository submissions and the handling of rejections
  • Apply initial margin and variation margin exchange rules
  • Conduct portfolio reconciliation and dispute resolution
  • Structure second-level controls across the processing chain

What makes this programme different

Each obligation is broken down into a concrete middle-office task with its control point
Reporting rejections are analysed on real examples and corrected
A disputed margin call is worked through to the full resolution procedure
