Group Supervision for Coaches: Analysing Practice, Progressing and Preparing for Credentialing

A regular forum in which to bring demanding client situations and move your credential application forward

Coaches work alone with situations that carry real responsibility: a client who stops progressing, a sponsor who wants to know more, a request that falls outside the agreed scope. Without a space for analysis, the same difficulties recur and blind spots remain. Preparing for a professional credential adds its own demands for documentation and evidence.

Five days spread over time to bring real situations to a supervised group and, in parallel, to build your application file. Each session alternates between analysis of cases brought by participants and work on the evidence to be assembled. The group remains the same from one session to the next.

1The supervision framework

Committing to a peer group

  • Setting the rules on confidentiality and speaking time
  • Distinguishing supervision, practice analysis and peer intervision
  • Expressing what each participant expects from the group
  • Agreeing a common format for presenting a situation

2Presenting a situation

Naming the difficulty without justifying yourself

  • Presenting the context and the initial coaching agreement
  • Describing the facts before the interpretations
  • Formulating the question put to the group
  • Receiving hypotheses without becoming defensive

3Exploring the relationship

Looking at what is at play between coach and client

  • Identifying what the situation triggers in the coach
  • Recognising the relational patterns being replayed
  • Separating what belongs to the client from what belongs to the coach
  • Considering adjustments to your stance

4Ethics and boundaries

Deciding when the framework comes under strain

  • Handling requests that fall outside the agreement
  • Managing pressure from the sponsor regarding content
  • Recognising what calls for another form of support
  • Arranging a respectful referral for the client

5Preparing your credential application

Turning your practice into a documented file

  • Reviewing the experience and practices worth highlighting
  • Describing your activity against a competency framework
  • Selecting the most representative session recordings
  • Planning the remaining steps through to submission

Practising professional coaches, mentors and consultants who wish to have their practice supervised.

Prerequisites

Be currently active in a coaching role and have client situations available to present.

Practical details

Before the programme
Online positioning questionnaire. Your development objectives are shared with the trainer, who tailors the practical case studies to your context.
Teaching methods
Theoretical input, workshops and practical case studies. Digital course materials and method sheets provided.
Assessment
Multiple-choice tests and role-play exercises. Assessment of learning at the start and end of the programme, with immediate and 60-day follow-up evaluations.
After the programme
One year of access to the e-learning platform. Self-assessment of the skills acquired and a 30-day follow-up session with your trainer.
