Description
Accounting and Financial English: Vocabulary, Reading and Communication
Use accounting English confidently to read financial statements and communicate with head office
- 2 days — 14 h
- In-person or virtual
- Foundation
- Up to 6 participants
Reporting packs travel in English, auditors ask their questions in English and head office expects explanations in the same language. A technically strong accountant can still be held back by false friends and by line-item labels that do not match the terminology used in their first language.
Two days to acquire the accounting and financial vocabulary actually used in the workplace, read financial statements drafted in English and hold a professional conversation. The role-play exercises reproduce everyday exchanges with an auditor or a group finance team.
Learning objectives
- Use the vocabulary of the main balance sheet and income statement line items
- Read financial statements drafted in English
- Write a follow-up or explanatory accounting email in English
- Hold a telephone conversation with an auditor or head office
- Present figures orally and comment on a variance
