Description

Change Management: Selecting an Approach, Equipping the Project and Measuring Adoption

Build a proven toolkit to structure the change support plan of a transformation project

  • 3 days — 21 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

Many project teams know that change must be supported, yet they have no practical tooling at hand. The support plan is then reduced to a kick-off meeting and a few internal messages. Without a shared method, activities remain disconnected and nothing indicates whether the project is genuinely progressing within the teams.

Three days focused on approaches and tools. Unlike a full change management programme, this session does not address the change support posture as a whole: it concentrates on selecting a structured approach and on the deliverables that flow from it, from stakeholder mapping through to the adoption dashboard.

Learning objectives

  • Compare the main structured change management approaches
  • Select an approach suited to the size and schedule of the project
  • Produce a stakeholder map that the project team can actually use
  • Build a communication plan and a training plan that work together
  • Put in place an adoption dashboard
  • Organise the steering of change support throughout the project

What makes this programme different

Every tool presented is completed immediately on a project brought by the participant
The deliverables produced in the session form a change support plan ready for use on return to work
Approaches are compared on their implementation cost rather than on reputation alone

Programme

1Overview of Approaches

Choosing a model rather than inheriting one

  • Compare the most widely used structured approaches
  • Identify what each one requires in resources and time
  • Adapt the approach to the size of the project
  • Avoid stacking incompatible models

2Analysing Stakeholders and Impacts

The two deliverables that underpin the plan

  • Build a stakeholder map
  • Qualify the position of each group concerned
  • Carry out an impact analysis by function
  • Prioritise the impacts to be addressed first

3Equipping Communication

Messages aligned with the project schedule

  • Define key messages for each audience concerned
  • Select channels and their frequency
  • Build the project communication plan
  • Prepare materials for line managers acting as relays

4Equipping Skills Development

Training at the right time and the right level

  • Identify training needs arising from the impact analysis
  • Select formats according to the populations concerned
  • Organise the network of super-users
  • Schedule training in relation to the go-live date

5Steering and Measuring Adoption

Knowing whether the project is progressing within the teams

  • Define adoption indicators that can realistically be fed with data
  • Build a change support dashboard
  • Organise steering reviews with the project team
  • Decide on an adjustment based on feedback from the field
