Description

Professional Emails: Clarify the Message, Save Time and Get a Reply

Write short, clear messages that do not require three follow-ups before a reply arrives

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

Email takes up a significant share of the working day, yet it generates a great deal of misunderstanding. Vague subject lines, requests buried in the middle of the text, recipients copied in as a precaution, tone misread: every unclear message produces several more.

Two days to revisit the fundamentals of business writing applied to email: choosing a subject line, phrasing an explicit request, adapting tone, managing copy lists and handling difficult messages. Exercises are based on genuine messages brought by participants and anonymised.

Learning objectives

  • Choose a subject line that states the request and its deadline
  • Structure an email so that the request appears in the opening lines
  • Adapt register and tone to the recipient and the context
  • Use recipient and copy fields according to their actual purpose
  • Handle a follow-up or a disagreement in writing without escalating the exchange

What makes this programme different

Rewriting of genuine messages brought by participants and anonymised
A library of ready-to-use phrasings built by the group
