Description

Advanced Public Speaking: Voice, Delivery and Executive Presence

Move from a competent presentation to a delivery that stays with the audience

  • 4 days — 28 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Intermediate
  • Up to 6 participants

Beyond a certain level of practice, progress stalls. The talk is clear and well prepared, yet it remains flat. The voice stays in a single register, silences are avoided, the eyes remain fixed on the slides, and hostile questions derail the thread. Nor does stage fright simply disappear with experience.

Four days devoted to the craft of speaking itself. Body and voice are trained as instruments. The structure of the talk is rebuilt to create shifts in pace and a clear progression. Each participant speaks several times in front of the group, with recording and detailed analysis.

Learning objectives

  • Use your voice and your silences as deliberate means of expression
  • Establish a stable physical presence suited to the room
  • Build a talk with clear progression and deliberate shifts in pace
  • Hold an audience through storytelling and well-chosen examples
  • Respond to a hostile question or a challenge without losing your line of argument
  • Manage the physical signs of stage fright before and during delivery

What makes this programme different

Voice and body work form a substantial part of each day
Each participant speaks at least five times in front of the group, with recording
Hostile questions are prepared by the group and put to the speaker without warning

Programme

1The Voice as an Instrument

Breaking out of a single register

  • Work on breath support and projection
  • Vary pace and intensity according to the message
  • Use silence as a form of punctuation
  • Articulate clearly without hardening the diction
  • Protect your voice over a long intervention

2Presence and the Body

Occupying the space without overdoing it

  • Establish a stable stance and grounding
  • Control eye contact and scanning of the room
  • Coordinate gesture with speech
  • Manage movement according to the layout of the venue

3Building the Talk

A progression that holds the audience

  • Choose one central idea and stay with it
  • Build an opening that engages immediately
  • Organise shifts in pace and moments to breathe
  • Craft the closing and what it leaves behind
  • Adjust the duration without distorting the message

4Storytelling and Conviction

Making the message heard differently

  • Use examples and anecdotes to good purpose
  • Build a short, situated story
  • Choose images that speak to the intended audience
  • Combine rational argument with genuine buy-in

5Holding Firm When Things Go Wrong

Stage fright, challenge and difficult situations

  • Prepare your state of mind before stepping up
  • Regain control after a technical failure
  • Answer a hostile question without becoming defensive
  • Handle a repeated objection or an interruption
  • Close effectively when speaking time has been cut
