Description

AI ROI: Quantifying, Tracking and Prioritising the Value of Live Projects

Answering the executive committee's question on what AI investments genuinely deliver

  • 0.43 days — 3 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Expert
  • Up to 6 participants

AI budgets are rising and the executive committee is asking for evidence. Teams respond with self-reported time savings and positive user feedback, none of which holds up in front of an investment committee. The issue is not the technology but the construction of a defensible economic argument.

This short format is designed for expert profiles. It addresses value at portfolio level: establishing the pre-project baseline, identifying full costs, converting gains into economic value and arbitrating between competing initiatives.

Learning objectives

  • Establish the pre-project baseline required for any credible measurement of gains
  • Identify the full costs of a use case including run operations and change support
  • Convert time or quality improvements into substantiated economic value
  • Distinguish value attributable to the project from value driven by other factors
  • Arbitrate between competing use cases within a single portfolio

What makes this programme different

Each participant builds the business case for a real project from their own portfolio
Reported gains are systematically challenged to test their robustness
An investment committee presentation template is produced during the session

Programme

1Establishing the baseline

Without a prior measurement there is no demonstrable gain

  • Describing the reference situation before deployment
  • Available measurement sources and their level of reliability
  • Expected effects expressed in economic terms from the scoping stage
  • Pitfalls of self-reported measurement by users

2Costing and quantifying gains

Counting what is usually overlooked

  • Design, run, change support and maintenance costs
  • Converting time savings into value according to how the released time is used
  • Quality, lead-time and error-reduction gains
  • Share of the variation attributable to the project and share attributable to context

3Arbitrating the portfolio

Deciding where the next dirham goes

  • Comparing use cases with different value horizons
  • Handling projects with indirect or compliance-driven value
  • Decisions to continue, redirect or stop
  • Reporting format for the investment committee

Who is it for
