Description

CIA Certification: Reviewing the Syllabus and Consolidating the Fundamentals

Revisit the technical content expected at the CIA certification before moving on to exam practice

  • 1 day — 7 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Intermediate
  • Up to 6 participants

An experienced internal auditor knows the field well but rarely expresses day-to-day practice in the wording of the professional framework. Yet the CIA certification tests precise notions: independence, governance, risk management, evidence and reporting. Practitioners often stumble on questions whose substance they master but whose vocabulary they do not.

This one-day programme is a review of content rather than of exam technique. It works through the syllabus domains, tests each notion against the participants' real assignments and settles the expected terminology, domain by domain.

Learning objectives

  • State the foundations of the internal audit professional framework in the expected terms
  • Distinguish the respective roles of governance, management and internal audit
  • Describe the engagement process from planning through to follow-up of recommendations
  • Explain the notions of risk, control and assurance as they are worded in the syllabus
  • Connect financial and information technology content to audit fieldwork

What makes this programme different

Every notion reviewed is tested against a real engagement situation brought by participants
A glossary of framework terminology is built up progressively over the day
Frequent confusions between neighbouring notions are addressed in contrasting pairs
