Description

Collective Intelligence: Framing, Facilitating and Leveraging Group Work

Enable a group to deliver real output on a genuine issue instead of running meetings that decide nothing

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

Bringing a team together is not enough to generate collective thinking. Discussion is monopolised by a few participants, ideas are lost for want of a record, and the session ends without anyone knowing what was decided or who does what. When such meetings are repeated, disengagement sets in for good.

These two days provide the means to organise group work that actually delivers. You select a facilitation format according to the objective, you frame the decision rule, you lead the divergence and convergence phases, and you turn group output into decisions that are followed through.

Learning objectives

  • Select the facilitation format that matches the objective of the session
  • Frame a collective session by setting out the decision rule
  • Lead a group through divergence and then convergence phases
  • Manage the behaviours that block participation
  • Turn group output into decisions that lead to action
  • Assess whether collective work is appropriate before launching it

What makes this programme different

Each participant facilitates a complete sequence in front of the group and receives a structured review of their facilitation
Several facilitation formats are tested within the same day on a topic brought by participants
Preparation of a real session to be run back at work is completed during the programme
