Description

CSR Communication: Translating Sustainability Reporting, Building Arguments and Avoiding Greenwashing

One day to speak about your environmental and social commitments without making claims you cannot verify

  • 1 day — 7 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

Organisations are producing more and more non-financial data yet struggle to talk about it. Either the message stays locked inside reporting jargon and nobody reads it, or it drifts towards broad, unverifiable promises that expose the organisation to criticism as soon as a gap appears.

This 7-hour day connects reporting with public communication. Participants learn to identify, within the available data, what can usefully be communicated, to frame a commitment with its scope and deadline, to spot high-risk wording and to respond to questions from sceptical stakeholders.

Learning objectives

  • Identify which items of non-financial data can usefully be communicated
  • Frame a commitment by stating its scope its deadline and its baseline
  • Spot vague wording in a message that exposes the organisation to greenwashing criticism
  • Adapt the message to different audiences including employees clients candidates and partners
  • Respond to a critical question about a gap between commitment and result

What makes this programme different

Critical review of real messages brought in by participants
A checklist of high-risk wording applied to your own materials
A paired exercise responding to a sceptical stakeholder
