A poorly classified dangerous goods consignment holds up loading or exposes the company during a roadside inspection. Labels do not match the transport document, exemption conditions are misjudged, and the driver discovers the problem on the loading bay just before departure.

Two days to secure the shipping chain for dangerous goods moved by road, in line with the UN Model Regulations and applicable UAE road transport requirements. The programme covers identification and classification of goods, packaging and marking rules, transport documentation and the duties of each party involved. Exercises are based on goods actually shipped by participants.

Everything starts with classification

  • Recognise the hazard classes and their characteristics
  • Use the safety data sheet to classify a product
  • Search for a substance or article in the regulatory dangerous goods list
  • Determine the packing group and the special provisions

2Packaging marking and labelling

Making the hazard visible

  • Select an approved packaging suited to the goods
  • Interpret the markings shown on an approved packaging
  • Apply hazard labels and mandatory particulars
  • Handle combination packagings and overpacks

3Documentation and duties of the parties involved

What an inspection actually checks

  • Draft the transport document and its mandatory particulars
  • Identify the responsibilities of the consignor the loader and the carrier
  • Recognise exemption situations and the conditions for applying them
  • Organise training and record-keeping for the parties involved

4Loading transit and emergency situations

From the loading bay to the road

  • Check the compatibility of goods loaded together
  • Verify vehicle placarding and on-board equipment
  • Apply securing and blocking rules
  • Apply the written instructions in the event of an incident or leak

Teaching methods
Theoretical input, workshops and practical case studies. Digital course materials and method sheets provided.
Assessment
Multiple-choice tests and role-play exercises. Assessment of learning at the start and end of the programme, with immediate and 60-day follow-up evaluations.
After the programme
One year of access to the e-learning platform. Self-assessment of the skills acquired and a 30-day follow-up session with your trainer.
