Description

Energy and Environmental Taxation: Identifying Charges and Filing Accurately

Identify the taxes and levies applied to energy use and polluting activities, then make your filings reliable

  • 1 day — 7 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

Energy invoices and annual returns include tax and levy lines that few departments fully understand: excise duties on energy products, utility-related charges and environmental levies linked to waste and packaging. Reduced rates and exemptions exist, but they require evidence of actual use, which organisations are not always able to document.

This one-day, seven-hour programme provides an overall view of energy and environmental taxation as it applies in the United Arab Emirates. Participants learn to identify the charges relevant to their activity, understand exemption and reduced-rate mechanisms, prepare the supporting documents expected by the authorities and secure periodic filings.

Learning objectives

  • Identify the energy and environmental charges applicable to your activity
  • Distinguish between exemption regimes and reduced-rate regimes
  • Assemble the supporting documents expected in the event of an inspection
  • Check the consistency between actual consumption and declared amounts
  • Organise the timetable for filings and refund claims

What makes this programme different

A line-by-line review of an energy invoice to isolate the tax and levy component
A filing calendar to complete with your own deadlines
The records to keep in order to justify a reduced rate during an inspection
