Environmental initiatives pile up without any order of priority: improved waste sorting here, new lighting there, an awareness campaign on everyday habits. Without an assessment of real impacts, effort goes to what is visible rather than to what actually matters. Consumption does not fall durably and the gains achieved are lost as soon as attention shifts elsewhere.

Two days to build a reduction approach grounded in facts: inventory of incoming and outgoing flows, assessment of significant impacts, prioritisation and selection of technical or organisational solutions. Each participant leaves with an analysis of their own site and a fully argued reduction plan.

1Know Your Flows

Start from actual consumption rather than impressions

  • Identify incoming flows of energy, water and materials
  • Identify discharges, waste and nuisances generated
  • Gather the data available and spot missing measurements
  • Relate consumption to a representative unit of activity

2Assess and Prioritise

Tell what matters from what is merely visible

  • Link each flow to the environmental impacts concerned
  • Build assessment criteria suited to the activity
  • Take account of normal, degraded and emergency conditions
  • Rank significant impacts and justify the ranking
  • Compare the ranking obtained with the priorities previously stated

3Select Reduction Levers

Act at source before acting on treatment

  • Look for reduction at source in processes and procurement
  • Compare technical solutions and organisational change
  • Assess expected gains and the shifting of one impact onto another
  • Factor in production and maintenance constraints
  • Estimate the cost and expected return of each option

4Embed the Approach Over Time

Avoid a return to former practices

  • Formalise the reduction plan with owners and deadlines
  • Involve production and maintenance teams in the actions
  • Monitor consumption and detect drift
  • Report results internally and externally
  • Revise priorities on the basis of the measurements obtained

Practical details

Before the programme
Online positioning questionnaire. Your development objectives are shared with the trainer, who tailors the practical case studies to your context.
Teaching methods
Theoretical input, workshops and practical case studies. Digital course materials and method sheets provided.
Assessment
Multiple-choice tests and role-play exercises. Assessment of learning at the start and end of the programme, with immediate and 60-day follow-up evaluations.
After the programme
One year of access to the e-learning platform. Self-assessment of the skills acquired and a 30-day follow-up session with your trainer.
