Description
Excel — Payroll Cost Modelling: Build, Simulate and Steer Your Workforce Cost Dashboards
Two days to build a payroll cost model that recalculates itself instead of being rebuilt every month
- 2 days — 14 h
- In-person or virtual
- Intermediate
- Up to 6 participants
The payroll cost tracking file has been carried over year after year. Formulas point to deleted tabs, headcount no longer reconciles with payroll, and every request from management control means re-keying data. The figure arrives late and the discussion shifts to the method rather than the results.
These 14 hours are devoted to building spreadsheet models. Participants convert a payroll extract into a usable flat database, build a model broken down by cost driver, automate workforce dashboards with PivotTables, then put in place the controls that flag an anomaly before the file is circulated.
Learning objectives
- Structure a payroll extract into a database usable in a spreadsheet
- Model the breakdown of payroll costs by driver in a recalculable workbook
- Automate a workforce dashboard using PivotTables
- Set up consistency checks that flag variances before circulation
- Build a budget simulation driven by clearly isolated assumptions
