Description

Facilitating a Working Group: Framing, Producing and Deciding Together

A group that genuinely delivers in two hours, rather than one more meeting that ends without a decision

  • 1 day — 7 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

The working group has been launched, the participants volunteered, and yet nothing comes out of it. The same people speak, the others wait for the end, the discussion goes round in circles and the session closes without a decision or a next step. The facilitator burns through energy and the sponsor never receives the deliverable expected.

One day to learn how to frame a working group, make it produce and bring it to a decision. Preparing the agenda flow, facilitation techniques that move the work forward, handling disagreement and recording decisions: each participant works on a real working group they are due to facilitate shortly.

Learning objectives

  • Formulate the production objective expected from a working group
  • Build a timed agenda flow with alternating sequences
  • Facilitate collective production while engaging every participant
  • Close with a decision record setting out owners and deadlines

What makes this programme different

Each participant leaves with the written agenda flow of their own working group
Facilitation sequences genuinely delivered in front of the group
Decision record template tested during the session
